Teresa Guajardo has lived in the Olympia area since coming to work as development coordinator for Safeplace in 1996. She left non-profit development to begin private practice as a massage therapist. Specializing in trauma treatment, she began working with transgender individuals who wanted to connect more with their bodies as they transitioned. She became known as a "safe" person for trans individuals. She earned her Master's in Counseling Psychology at Saint Martin's University, including an internship at Monarch Children's Justice and Advocacy Center. She opened her counseling practice in 2006. While she continues to specialize in trauma therapy, much of her practice is with LGBTQI+ individuals
Teresa has a reputation as an instigator. She has participated in the creation and development of several programs. Some of them are:

* Pizza Klatch - a lunchtime support group for LGBTQQA youth in high schools.
* Queer Art Heals Your Heart - an art as therapy program for victims of crime with Stonewall Youth and PiPE.
She and her wife also hosted a wedding for everyone at the Capital Rotunda once marriage equality was ratified by the people of the great state of Washington in 2012. Twenty one other couples from 5 counties married with them on that day.
Her latest project is Rainbow Health Center. A broad spectrum of services, housed in a lovely historic building near downtown, that are welcoming to non-mainstream participants, especially transgender folks.
